Findability
01  Findability

Project Type  Product/UX/UI Design

Industry  E-Marketing

Users  E-Marketing Specialists

Role  Product/UX/UI Designer

Tools  Sketch, Axure, Zeplin

The project involved designing and developing a first-of-its-kind MVP from POC to beta release. The main feature, "findability," collects and analyzes advertisers' keyword data, performance, and competitiveness from Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce platform.

The Challenges

  • Complexity—the complex POC required meticulous team planning and coordination

  • First-its-kind—this unique deliverable was challenging to perform product research

  • Aggressive timeline—the Product Design team had about six weeks to design UX/UI and prototype

Discover and Define

  • Defined the knowns and broke them down into digestible sizes for development

  • Prioritized team efforts into different phases for collaboration

  • Created a 6-week project timeline to deliver the project on time

Ideation and Design

  • I collaborated with the Product Owner and Team to whiteboard, brainstorm, and define  the key features

  • I created a workflow for design clarity

Design System

Due to the company acquisition, the branding color system had to be re-aligned with the new one. The transition was seamless because of the reusable design components

Product Design

  • I adopted the "spreadsheet" motif to ensure a short user learning curve because the target audience is
e-marketeers who have extensive knowledge of general spreadsheets

  • I created high-fidelity mock-ups and prototype

  • I collaborated with business stakeholders with daily progress and iterations

Impact

  • The design phase was completed in 6 weeks and handed off to the Dev team.

  • The beta was successfully released to its select clients in two months after handoff.

02   Mobile App Discovery Phase

Project Type  Product/UX/UI Design

Role  Sr. Product/UX Designer

Industry  Pig Farming

Tools  Figma, FigJam

Users  Pig Farm Workers & Managers

The project involved full-cycle app development, from project discovery to delivery of desktop and mobile apps (Android and iOS.) The mobile app tracks the sows’ feed and water intake data from a newly invented feeding device and sends real-time alerts from the pig barn. The desktop app is for administrative purposes.

The Challenges

  • New physical product--the device was a new invention and requires deep technical research

  • First-its-kind--the market research was challenging as the device is newly invented

  • Aggressive timeline--only two weeks in Discover for the teams to understand and define the scope

Discovery and Design Strategy

  • I uncovered the known pain points and the unknowns; crafted via solutions and design strategy

  • I partnered with the Business and Dev Team to define target users and tasks, technical strategy, and data collection

User Testing

  • I created clickable prototype to test the main features: send alerts and reset thresholds

  • I ran user testing to validate features and to uncover more unknowns

  • I synthesized the testing findings and made recommendations for improvements

Product Design

  • I created high-fidelity mock-ups and prototypes

  • I collaborated with business stakeholders and the Dev Team on progress and iterations

Impact

In this discovery phase, I collaborated with business stakeholders and internal Product and Dev Teams to uncover the business needs and create a business-focused and user-centric POC. The clickable prototype and user testing validated the design assumptions and the crucial features required for the MVP deliverables. I also participated in the business engagement strategy planning to cement future work engagement.

Repository
03   Site Article Repository

Project Type  Product/UX/UI Design

Role  UX Designer/UI Architect

Industry  healthcare Insurance Provider

Tools  Sketch, Axure, Sympli

Users  General Public

The project involved restructuring the information architecture of the healthcare article repository on the company’s public website. The goal is to give visitors and members all the healthcare articles they need to make decisions quickly and easily.

The Challenges

  • The problematic user access to the articles reduces business value

  • No proper organization of the extensive library of articles reduces user value

  • The flow restructure is limited to fewer than two levels as it is restricted to use the predefined site templates

Define and Design

  • I partnered with IxD and Visual Design team to create a flat hierarchy user flow

  • I collaborate with the Content Team to define tag categorization

  • I created detail page requirement documents for the Dev Team to evaluate development efforts

Ideation

  • I collaborated with UXD and IxD teams to brainstorm and created whiteboard ideations

  • I utilized the tool "Sketch" to explore layout permutations

Product Design

I utilized Photoshop, Sketch, and Axure and created high-fidelity mock-ups and prototypes with the pre-defined page templates and hierarchy

Impact

I created a business-focus and user-centric POC with an interaction that demonstrates the flat hierarchy. It allows users and members to quickly access health and wellness information. It also serves as the baseline for further development.
